Little City Youth Finds a Forever Home

At 7-years-old, Little City’s youth Matt* came into the foster care system. His childhood was marked by transient housing, finding refuge in abandoned buildings, periods of homelessness, a lack of education and bearing witness to crime and violence. After coming into the system, Matt lived with eight different foster families. He felt that he didn’t belong anywhere and he refused to consider the option of adoption. After gaining stability in the home of his fictive kin, Matt started to realize how he deserved a loving, adoptive family that he could count on throughout life.

In his early teenage years, he decided that he would consider going through the adoption process and his team of workers worked diligently to transition him into a pre-adoptive home. At this point, Matt was struggling in the classroom, he was taking psychotropic medications and experienced many behaviors.

Now, at 16-years old, Matt is being adopted! His loving foster (now adoptive) family worked with Matt to improve his situation drastically. He no longer has an Individualized Education Plan at school, he no longer takes psychotropic medication and he no longer experiences debilitating behaviors.

Join Little City in congratulating Matt and his forever family on this amazing milestone in all of their lives!

“Little City uses an affirming message – that it’s a good world, there’s a place for my kids in the world and Little City will help them find it.”
