In 1959, Freda and Dr. Jack Decker teamed up with the founding parents and families of Little City in the struggle to provide a safe and dignified environment for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. More than 50 years later, another generation from the Decker family – Randi Baskin Blume – stepped in to ensure that a new generation of community leaders realizes the importance of Little City’s programs and mission. Wanting to live out the legacy of her grandparents, Blume, a young commercial banker from Chicago, spearheaded the process of forming a group of young and engaged leaders to champion for Little City Foundation – known today as Little City’s Young Professionals Group (YPG).
Mission
With over thirty members between the ages of 22 and 35, YPG works to support the services and programs offered to the individuals with intellectual and development disabilities at Little City Foundation in a fresh and engaging way. The group demonstrates its commitment to some of our community’s most vulnerable citizens through fundraising and volunteer activities, while offering its members invaluable networking and leadership opportunities.
