Supported Living
Designed for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who experience mild to moderate challenges.
About this Program
Little City’s Supported Living Arrangement (SLA) program offers adults the opportunity to live independently in their own apartments, each equipped with a private kitchen and living space. The program is designed to help residents develop the skills needed to live as independently as possible while maintaining the privacy and autonomy of their own home.
Residents can choose the level of support that best meets their individual needs, allowing them to receive personalized assistance with daily living skills such as cooking, household management, budgeting, and community participation. Support services are tailored to each person’s goals and adjusted as needs change.
In addition, residents have the opportunity to enroll in recreational classes and activities that match their interests, helping them build new skills, foster social connections, and engage with other residents. The SLA program empowers individuals to make choices about their daily lives while receiving the support they need to thrive independently.

Who We Serve
Individuals in this program live independently and do not require CILA funding to participate. Residents must meet eligibility requirements for HUD housing assistance and be capable of managing many aspects of daily living while utilizing individualized support services based on their unique needs and goals.
What To Expect
Individuals in the SLA program live independently and do not receive 24/7 staff support. Apartments are located on Little City’s main campus in Palatine, providing convenient access to campus resources and programs while allowing residents to maintain their independence.
Many residents are employed in the community and are able to independently manage transportation to and from work, appointments, and other activities. Staff support is individualized and may include assistance with budgeting, grocery shopping, daily living skills, and other areas that help residents maintain and strengthen their independence.
