‘Art & Fashion Trunk Show’ a success in high-end interior design
On October 28, Little City’s artists participated in an “Art and Fashion Trunk Show,” displaying a variety of their work from ceramics to paintings to jewelry. All proceeds benefitted Little City’s Center for the Arts.
The evening was hosted by Workroom Inc., a couture interior design store in Chicago that will continue to showcase the work, along with a raffle through Dec. 18.
“Our relationship with the Workroom Inc. was re-established last year when founders John Diekmann and Joel Klaff donated their exquisite fabrics to be used with our woven handbags and other accessories created at our Design Studio,” commented Little City Executive Director Shawn E. Jeffers.
The founders of Workroom inc. were so impressed with the standard of work being produced with their materials that they decided to host the first “Art and Fashion Trunk Show,” celebrating and promoting the work of two lead Little City artists, Pam Guzier and Tarik Echols, with the support of other artists at Little City.

This collaboration proved to be a match for the evening show, with the Workroom’s inviting atmosphere providing the perfect backdrop for visitors to peruse Little City’s artwork.
“This show gives the artists exposure and opportunities they otherwise may not have, while introducing art collectors to different concepts they otherwise wouldn’t have discovered,” said Joel Klaff.
This was indeed true with colorful jewelry and bags proving particularly popular throughout the night. Sarah Amiran, a customer who came to the event in Chicago, stated, “I was impressed with the quality of jewelry offered and decided to buy a pair of earrings for my mother and cousin. Also, I couldn’t resist, so I bought myself a pair as well.”
Laura Piazza, manager of the Design Studio, commented on the event at the respected store: “It is an opportunity for my artists to showcase their work to a group of people who appreciate this sort of intuitive art, and I appreciate John and Joel’s support. If this is the first ‘annual,’ I am really looking forward to the second and third.”
