Dr. Frederika Theus joins Little City’s medical team

The highly respected Dr. Frederika Theus, who led the Child and Adolescent Diagnostic and Family Support Program as part of the Institute on Disability and Human Development at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), has joined the Little City Foundation team as the new Director of Clinical Services.

“With the presence of Dr. Theus, our ability to do research, diagnostics and intervention will elevate to a much higher level,” said Bob Shears, Director of Programs and Ancillary Services. “As we continue to improve our healthcare services, along with preparing for the opening of our school, Dr. Theus will provide the type of expertise we need to move these initiatives forward.”

At the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Dr. Theus, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, coordinated research about people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as diagnostic evaluations and intervention. She was a member of the talented staff at UIC for 12 years.

“I have known about Little City for all my life, and I have great respect for the work the staff is doing,” Dr. Theus said. “My hope is that together we will be able to create a great learning environment for the residents and clients of Little City.”

Dr. Theus earned a bachelor’s degree in Speech – Communicative Disorders and a masters in Learning Disabilities from Northwestern University. She also has a doctorate in psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University.

Doctor Theus has licensed accreditations in clinical psychology and learning disabilities, and she is a certified consultant in Relationship Development Intervention. In addition, she is a member of the Autism Society of America, the Professional Advisory Committee for the Autism Society of Illinois and the Advisory Committee for the Chicago Autism Connection. She also has helped with the Arc of Illinois’ Family to Family Health Information and Education Center.
