Little City Foundation’s ‘Green’ Campus Hosts Grand
Re-Opening of Encore Resale Shop Tomorrow

An arena of green activities for nearly 50 years, Little City Foundation’s (LCF) Palatine campus will now house Encore—a resale shop supporting Little City’s aggressive development efforts that employs adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities

PALATINE, IL – August 13, 2009 – Recycling Chicagoland’s gently used items for treasure and bargain hunters, Little City Foundation will host the Grand Re-Opening of Encore, the resale shop on its Palatine campus, tomorrow through Saturday, August 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  on both days.

“We’ve received a tremendous amount of community support and have been collecting thousands of clothing, accessories, shoes, furniture, and little treasures for months now,” commented Robert Shears, Director of Business Development at  Little City Foundation.  “We’ve sorted through all our donations and now the most attractive, gently used, and name brand items are available for purchase this weekend.”

Formerly known as the “Front Porch,” the Little City Encore Resale Shop will offer many opportunities for parents looking for “back-to-school” clothing.   The Grand Re-Opening will also feature a special Summer Clearance Sale to make room for fall fashions.   Sample items available for purchase include Nine West Sandals for $5 dollars and a Coach Clutch Purse for $15 dollars.

Shoppers that mention this press release will receive an additional 10 percent off their entire purchase.

Proceeds from items sold at Little City’s Encore Resale Shop will benefit hundreds of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.   The Resale shop serves as just one of numerous employment opportunities offered by Little City’s Business Development program for residents who wish to work—a unique characteristic of Little City Foundation since 1959.

Little City also offers document destruction services, on-site outsourcing services, organic vegetables and flowers grown through its horticultural program, handmade gifts, holiday greeting cards, and more to Chicago and suburban businesses and families.

Local corporations and individuals are invited to learn more of these services at Little City’s annual public meeting on Monday, October 19.

Shoppers may sign-up for the Encore email list to receive advanced sale notifications and updates on great new items for sale by contacting Julee Schmaus at jschmaus@littlecity.org.

Little City’s Encore Resale Shop is located at the front of the Little City campus at 1760 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.
