Palatine, IL, Aug. 7, 2009 – Golfers who want to participate and support one of the most prestigious tournaments in the nonprofit sector can still sign up for the 46th annual Little City Invitational Golf Tournament. However, time is quickly running out to play in the event, which will be held Monday, Aug. 24, at Twin Orchard Country Club in Long Grove.

The cost to take part in the tournament is $750, which includes brunch, golf with either a cart or caddie, prizes and a spectacular awards dinner that will feature a large silent auction with many sports and golf-related items.

A live auction will also be held and include opportunities to play at courses such as Whistling Straits and Rich Harvest, or to enjoy sky box seats at a Bears or White Sox game.

As part of the festivities, the Little City Invitational will also honor banking executive Larry Richman. Richman is President and CEO of PrivateBancorp, Inc., and The Private Bank-Chicago, a wholly owned subsidiary of PrivateBancorp.

Little City will present Richman with its prestigious Morrie Kellman Humanitarian Award, named after the founder of the Little City tournament.

“Larry has always been a great supporter of Little City and other charitable organizations throughout Chicago, and he is very deserving of the Kellman Humanitarian Award. Our committee unanimously selected Larry as the person to honor this year,” said Ed Hockfield, one of the chairs for the tournament. “With Larry as our honoree, we are looking forward to another fantastic golf event.”

Richman added, “I am honored to receive this award, especially from an organization that contributes as much to providing opportunities and support to those with developmental disabilities as Little City Foundation does.”

A field of 250 golfers is expected to tee it up over the 36-hole Twin Orchard Country Club, and for the first time, golfers will be able to walk with caddies on the Red Course. The event also includes an awards dinner that features an expansive silent auction as well as a live auction for several spectacular golf packages.

The invitational supports the Palatine-based Little City Foundation, which provides services and programs, including residential care, for children and adults with disabilities. The agency will celebrate its 50th year of existence in October.
