Volunteer Opportunities
Preparing for and executing the Little City Used Book Sale is an enormous task. We know that without helping hands, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. Volunteers are the backbone of any great organization and make it possible to produce such an event. There are several different ways for both individuals and groups to lend a hand and become a Book Sale volunteer.
Book Warehouse
The preparations for the book sale begin a year in advance. Volunteers work in our book warehouse sorting, pricing and packing books. The warehouse is open 5 days a week from 10am to 4pm and the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9am to 1pm. We will open evenings and weekends for groups of 5 or more volunteers.
Book Sale Setup
Setup for the Used Book Sale begins a week before the actual sale. Once the tents are erected, the books collected throughout the year are delivered and need to be unpacked, sorted and displayed. Setup begins on Monday, May 31st and continues through Friday, June 4th. Setup is open Monday through Thursday from 10am to 4pm and Friday from 10am to 3pm.
Book Sale
Individual volunteers are needed to work the actual sale during the week as cashiers, re-sorters, guides and security. This is also a great opportunity for your Corporation/Group to volunteer (see below).
Corporate/Group Volunteerism
Corporate/group volunteerism is a great way to gather together, lend a hand and have fun. Many corporations have helped the Used Book Sale in the past. We can accommodate groups up to 10 for the Book Warehouse and 50 for the actual Sale. Volunteer groups at the Book Sale will receive special recognition including a table to hand out literature and a place to post a banner/sign.
